It was emphasized, at the Symposium, that problem of participation of foreign fighters in armed conflicts, which has been conducted at several fronts lately, must be taken seriously. In their remarks, members of the Security and Defence Committee stated that every legal state must address the issue, which represented one of the most serious violations of human rights guaranteed by international conventions.
During the debate, Nuhodžić, Stanišić and Jonica said that legislative regulation which prescribed sanctioning all of its citizens who participate in conflicts in a foreign country had an essential significance for domestic legislation.
Today’s Symposium was aimed at bringing closer commitments of recently adopted UN 2178 Security Council resolution on foreign fighters, since, Montenegro, as a member of United Nations, is obliged to enforce thereof.
The meeting is organised by the Ministry of Justice and US Embassy in Podgorica.
