Seminar “Recent Developments and Strategic Priorities in Fostering Police Integrity in Montenegro” ends

Members of the Security and Defence Committee today participated in the seminar titled: “Recent Developments and Strategic Priorities in Fostering Police Integrity in Montenegro “.

In his address, Chairperson of the Security and Defence Committee Mr Mevludin Nuhodžić said that protection, affirmation and promotion of police officers’ reputation as well as strengthening of citizens’ confidence in police service remained imperative and precondition for achieving measurable results in this field.

“Only through the construction of both - individual and institutional integrity in police, we may speak about increasing transparency, improving accountability and strengthening public confidence, as clear indicators of built integrity”, Chairperson Nuhodžić said.

Member of the Committee Mr Obrad Stanišić reminded that the Parliament - by the Law on Parliamentary Oversight of Security and Defence Sector - has defined priorities in a comprehensive manner and improved the responsibilities of the Committee with an intention, as he said, to ensure the respect of human rights and freedoms through development of certain mechanisms, as well as lawful conduct of bodies and institutions from the security and defence sector.

Deputy Chairperson of the Committee Ms Snežana Jonica as well as members Mr Velizar Kaluđerović and Mr Luigj Shkrela took part in the seminar.

Seminar “Recent Developments and Strategic Priorities in Fostering Police Integrity in Montenegro” was organised by the DCAF and OSCE Mission to Montenegro in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior and Parliament of Montenegro.
