After completion of the Third regional conference on sustainable use of energy, held in hotel Ramada, Podgorica, and organised by the School of Democratic Leadership , members of the Committee on Economy, Finance and Budget met with Director of the Energy Community Secretariat Mr Janez Kopač, who presented the Third annual report on the implementation of the Energy Community Strategy to the Committee
During the meeting, members of the Committee, among other things, were informed on the view of the Energy Community concerning the situation in Montenegro, in the fields of: electricity, gas, renewable sources of energy, energy efficiency, environmental protection and oil reserves. Also, there was discussion about the activities and objectives of the Energy Community, related to - attracting investments in power generation, ensuring a stable energy supply, establishing an integrated energy market, improving the environment in terms of energy supply and competition on the regional level.
It was assessed that there has been progress in the implementation of primary and secondary legislation, and that the legal framework was in line with the Second Package. Additionally, they pointed put to the need for adopting the new Energy Law, which would transpose the Third Energy Package and create the conditions for opening the market for customers connected to the distribution network.
Following the meeting, members of the Committee attended the working lunch of members of committees in charge of energy field from the South-east European parliaments.
