At today’s 117th meeting, the Committee on Economy, Finance and Budget considered and decided to propose to the Parliament for adoption the Proposal for the Law on Amendments to the Law on Legal Protection of Industrial Design and Proposal for the Law on Amendments to the Trademark Law.
In addition, the Committee considered the Proposal for the Law on Customs Service, which will ensure further harmonisation of Montenegrin laws with the EU acquis, and contribute to modernisation of practice, simplification of customs procedures, education of employees and strengthening of cooperation with domestic institutions and services. The said Law significantly increases the powers of custom officers, directed towards acceptance of customs service as an important creator of security through counterfeiting of criminal acts and all forms of smuggling, organised crime, money laundering and grey economy. Given that the proposed solutions are aimed at modernisation of the customs service, strengthening of administrative as well as technical and security capacities, it has been estimated that these solutions will have a positive effect on collecting customs duties, and therefore on increasing budgetary revenue. Following the discussion, the Committee decided to propose to the Parliament to adopt the said Proposal for the Law.
Due to absence of the representative of the proposer, consideration of the Proposal for the Law on Amendment to the Law on Geological Research, submitted by MPs Ms Jelisava Kalezić and Ms Branka Bošnjak, will be held at one of the following meetings.
