First continuation of the Sixth Meeting of the Committee on European Integration held

Previous activities within the Negotiation Chapter 23 – Judiciary and Fundamental Rights presented and Interim Performance Report adopted.

During the first continuation of the Sixth Meeting of the Committee on European integration held today, Ms Svetlana Rajković, member of the negotiation group in charge of Negotiation Chapter 23 and 24 and Ms Branka Lakočević, Head of the Working Group for Negotiation Chapter 23 presented the previous activities within the Negotiation Chapter 23 – Judiciary and Fundamental Rights. With regard to that, the Action Plan for concerned chapter was considered – where the special attention is paid to commitments aimed at implementation of measures which have resulted from the European Commission recommendations. It was pointed out that drafting of the Action Plan included defining the space which allows flexibility in planning short-term, middle-term and especially long-term priorities, within which is possible to carry out necessary revisions. In addition to fulfilling measures relating to the legislative body, the importance of participation of the Parliament of Montenegro in the part relating monitoring and reporting through the process of monitoring and fulfilment of commitments from the Action Plan was highlighted.

Regarding the consideration of the Proposal for Resolution on Manner, Quality and Dynamics of the Integration Process of Montenegro to the European Union, Committee members unanimously reached a decision the Collegium of the President of the Parliament of Montenegro to submit request on defining the attitude on the possibility of changing and harmonising the text of the Proposal for Resolution.

Interim Performance Report of the Committee was adopted at the meeting. In addition, regarding the level of participation of employees of the Parliament in working group for preparation of negotiations, and in accordance with previously submitted initiative of Committee members, the answer of the Secretary General regarding the concerned initiative was presented at the meeting.

At the continuation of the sixth meeting, the following will be discussed: the continuation of the first item of the agenda regarding the consideration of the Proposal for Resolution, as well as two items of the agenda relating the presentation of the procedures for adoption of negotiation chapters in Montenegro and European Union and presentation of the previous activities within the Negotiation Chapter 24 - Justice, Freedom and Security.
