Documentary film “Twilight of Heroes – Croatia, Europe and the International Tribunal” was presented in the introductory part. During the following discussion, Chairperson of the Committee Mr Slaven Radunović stated that in Montenegro, as in Croatia during the accession period, the society was highly oriented to European integration, what was reflected in the consensual support of all parliamentary parties. Afterwards, referring to the concerned film, he pointed out to judiciary and strengthening the rule of law, as key segments of overall reform process of a candidate country. “The aim of Montenegro is not only membership to the Union, but also adoption of European standards and civilization values”, Chairperson of the Committee said.
Panellists agreed that the experience of the Republic of Croatia from recently completed negotiation process was very useful, and that it was possible to apply it, with necessary adaptations to Montenegrin political and legal system.
In addition to Chairperson Radunović, Director General for European Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ms Snežana Radović and Deputy Chairman of the European Stability Initiative Mr Kristof Bender also spoke on the importance of reforms in the integration process.
