Meeting of the members of the Committee on European Integration with Ms Dominique Kühling, non-resident Deputy Ambassador of the Netherlands to Montenegro, was held

The activities of Montenegro on its path toward the EU so far have been welcomed. 

At the meeting of the members of the Committee on European Integration with Ms Dominique Kühling, non-resident Deputy Ambassador of the Netherlands to Montenegro, which was held today, mutual pleasure was expressed with regard to opening of the honorary consulate of the Netherlands in Budva, representing another confirmation of a good bilateral cooperation.

Success of Montenegro in the negotiation process was pointed out, especially with regard to the upcoming opening of the chapters 23 and 24. Ms Dominique Kühling expressed interest in the issue of strengthening of the parliamentary role in the negotiation process, as well as further steps that the Committee intended to take in that regard. On that occasion, all the activities of Montenegro on its path toward the EU so far have been welcomed, and the support for further progress and carrying out of reforms has been expressed.  

The members of the Committee informed their guest on the current process of adoption of the Resolution regarding the role of the Committee in the field of European integration. Pointing out the significance of existence of consensus of all parliamentary parties with regard to accession, which contributed to achieved results and progress of Montenegro on its path toward the EU, the expectation that the Resolution would be adopted by the end of the year was expressed. It was pointed out at the meeting that the Committee on European Integration had a very good cooperation both with the EU Delegation to Montenegro and with the civil sector, reflected in the constructive consideration of solutions regarding the open issues. With that regard, the willingness of the Committee was expressed to continue comprehensively, and in accordance with its competencies, to address the issues not only within chapters 23 and 24, but also within other equally demanding chapters, such as Environment, Fisheries etc. 

With regard to regional cooperation, the significance of both the existing modalities of cooperation and future initiatives was pointed out, contributing not only to political stability but to the economic development as well, and promotion of investment climate in the countries of the region.
