The Committee on European Integration will organise a public debate on the topic: “Montenegro and the European Union: legislation in the field of taxation”, devoted to negotiation chapter 16 – Taxation, on Tuesday, 18 February 2014, starting at 14:00h.

A good practise of better informing of citizens on negotiation chapters has been continued through organisation of the debate, during which an interested public and experts from taxation field will have an opportunity to present their positions, opinions and proposals, prior to consideration of negotiation position for chapter 16 – Taxation at the forthcoming Committee meeting.

The field of taxation in Montenegrin legislation is regulated by the following laws: Law on Tax Administration, Law on Corporate Profit Tax, Law on Personal Income Tax, Law on Value Added Tax, Excise Law, Law on Real Estate Tax,Law on tax on use of passenger motor vehicles, vessels, airplanes and aircrafts, Law on Mandatory Social Security Contributions, Law on Tax on Insurance Premiums, Law on Local Self-Government Financing, Law on Administrative Fees, Law on Fees for Access to Certain Services of General Interest and for the Use of Tobacco Products and Electro-Acoustic and Acoustic Devices, Law on Tax Advisors, Law on Business Enterprises, international conventions and agreements on avoiding double taxation. Furthermore, this field is regulated by the Law on Banks, Law on Prevention of Money Laundering and Terrorism Financing, Customs Law, Foreign Trade Law, Law on Market Surveillance, Law on Environment and Law on Copyright and Related Rights.

Having in mind the importance of the field, both for the state that collects taxes and thus finances managing and providing services to citizens, and citizens themselves, who contribute to efficient functioning of the society by paying taxes, the Committee invites interested persons to participate in this event and become familiar with the concerned negotiation chapter, and make contribution to Montenegro’s accession to the European Union by their suggestions.

Applications for participation with personal data are to be sent at the e-mail address: euintegracije@skupstina.me, no later than Sunday, 16 February 2014.
