Members of the Committee on European Integration hold a meeting with a delegation from the Bundestag

The International Parliamentary Scholarship programme supported and the importance of educating and training young people accentuated 

Deputy Chairperson of the Committee on European Integration Ms Marija Maja Ćatović and a member of the Committee Ms Azra Jasavić today held a meeting with a delegation from the German Bundestag, which has been paying a visit to Montenegro, aimed at the election of candidates for the International Parliamentary Scholarships – IPS.

The conversation was focused on the scholarship granted to the young people from more than 40 world countries, who are to spend five months in training and acquiring knowledge about the German political system through the work with members of the German Bundestag. The members of the Parliament of Montenegro expressed a full support to the programme, voicing hope that Montenegrin scholars would use the acquired knowledge for the further training and work in Montenegro.

The participants of the meeting spoke about the importance of education and training of young people, particularly acquiring of professional knowledge abroad, which they may apply, upon their return, in local communities. They emphasised that education made a key aspect of democratic political culture and enhancement of the rule of law, and consequently, the improvement of economic and social standard of citizens.

From the German delegation, the following took part in the meeting: Mr Ulrich Petzold, Member of the Bundestag, Mr Guido Heinen, Head of the Bundestag’s department of Research Services Directorate and Mr Uwe Meerkotter, Deputy German Ambassador to Montenegro.
