Chairperson of the Committee on Human Rights and Freedoms of the Parliament of Montenegro  Mr Halil Duković, MD met the Acting Head of OSCE Mission to Montenegro Mr Waldemar Figaj and his associates, today. The topic of today’s meeting was the continuation of the cooperation between the Committee on Human Rights and Freedoms and OSCE Mission to Montenegro, with the accent placed on the forthcoming regional meeting of parliamentary working bodies competent for human and children rights and ombudsmen for children from regional countries – Network CRONSEE, on the topic: “Rights of the Child: Promotion of the Position of a Child Aimed at Protection from All Forms of Exploitation”.

Committee Chairperson informed Mr Waldemar Figaj that the Committee planned to implement that activity together with the Delegation of the Parliament of Montenegro to PACE and institution of the Protector of Human Rights and Freedoms of Montenegro, with the support of UNICEF Office, in the period 29 and 30 November 2013. On that occasion, the Committee and the Delegation will gather the representatives of the working bodies as well as representatives of the South East Europe Children's Rights Ombudsperson's Network, and representatives of international organisations based in Montenegro dealing these issues, Council of Europe and Save the Children will also be present.

During today’s meeting the possibility of OSCE participation in funding of the gathering was discussed.

Mr Waldemar Figaj informed Chairperson of the Committee on Human Rights and Freedoms on activities implemented by the OSCE Mission in Montenegro, manners of providing funds for projects, restriction in terms of spending budgetary resources, which had been spent by 7 November for the current year, thus the OSCE had no possibility financially to support the implementation of the regional meeting.

 In addition, he informed Chairperson of the Committee on projects planned in the human rights field for the next year, stating that those would be directed towards three key fields:

- support to the institution of the Protector of Human Rights and Freedoms;

- anti-discrimination politics and implementation of the Anti-discrimination Law and

- support to the Constitutional Court of Montenegro.

It was agreed the Chairperson of the Committee on Human Rights and Freedoms and OSCE Mission representative to Montenegro to organise the meeting, at the beginning of the next year,  at which possibilities of cooperation between the Committee and the Mission in the following year would be discussed, through actual projects in the field of protection of human rights and freedoms.
