It was announced that the Committee implemented 27 activities determined by the 2013 Activity Plan, and three more remaining were implemented in the beginning of 2014.
Additionally, the Committee on Human Rights and Freedoms considered the 2014 Proposal of the Activity Plan of the Committee, and special accent was placed on competent institutions that should provide greater effectiveness in the fields of anti-discrimination, prevention of torture, rights of the child and personal data protection.
All participants in the discussion pointed out that adoption of the Plan was significant, assessing it as ambitious, quality, comprehensive and substantial, with well-selected topics. They also commended the selection of priority areas, which would be given special attention by the Committee during 2014, as well as the manner of drafting the Plan, because it had been forwarded to 52 addresses, for providing opinions, proposals and suggestions.
The members of the Committee on Human Rights and Freedoms also assessed the Activity Plan as comprehensive and ambitious, and that was adequate for the commitments and tasks expected from Montenegro in this period. Chairperson of the Committee agreed with said assessments. He expressed expectations that all the Committee members would contribute to its implementation, with cooperation of all social subjects in Montenegro, support of international organisations and NGO sector, which would contribute to further progress in the field of human rights and freedoms in Montenegro.
