Chairperson of the Committee on Human Rights and Freedoms of the Parliament of Montenegro, Mr Halil Duković and the Deputy Chairperson of the Committee, Ms Ljiljana Đurašković met today with the European Commission expert in the area of human rights, legal adviser in the European Court of Human Rights, Ms Susette Pia Schuster.
Chairperson of the Committee on Human Rights and Freedoms, Mr Halil Duković, specifying the activities undertaken by the Committee, presented the application of anti-discrimination law in practice. He pointed out that the Committee paid particular attention to the protection of minority rights and the rights of members of vulnerable groups. He stated that the Committee was identified in reports of the European Commission on the progress of Montenegro as one of the most active working bodies.
Deputy Chairperson of the Committee, Ms Ljiljana Đurašković, informed the guests about the innovations of the Law on Amendments to the Anti-discrimination Law, noting that the amendments to this law have been made according to recommendations of relevant international institutions, set out to improve the existing legal text, but also with the intention to create a better legal and institutional framework for protecting citizens from discrimination.
