31st meeting of the Committee on Human Rights and Freedoms held

During today's meeting, the Committee on Human Rights and Freedoms considered 2013 Report on the state of data protection in Montenegro and 2013 Report on the state in the field of access to information in Montenegro, submitted to the Parliament of Montenegro by the Agency for Personal Data Protection and Free Access to Information

The Committee assesses that during 2013, positive improvements were made in the field of protection of personal data, but certain problems still exist, especially regarding the usage of video oversight, which, in the most cases is not in the line with regulations on personal data protection.

When it comes to the 2013 Report on the state in the field of access to information in Montenegro, which is being submitted to the Parliament of Montenegro, the Committee states that the majority of requests were handed by nongovernmental organisations, which implies that the citizens insufficiently use their rights to free access to information.

By a majority of votes the Committee supported 2013 Report on the state of data protection in Montenegro as well as 2013 Report on the state in the field of access to information in Montenegro, proposing the Parliament to adopt thereof.
