Members of the Committee on Human Rights and Freedoms at the Inter-parliamentary Conference in Belgrade – day one

MPs Srđa Popović and Izet Bralić, members of the Committee on Human Rights and Freedoms of the Parliament of Montenegro participate in the Inter-parliamentary Conference on ″Civic Representation and Political Participation of National and Ethnic Minorities″, which is held in Belgrade and organized by the European Parliament and the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia. 

Participants of the Conference are MPs of the European Parliament, MPs of candidate countries and potential candidates for membership in the European Union, representatives of the EU Delegation to Serbia, representatives of ministries and independent state authorities in the Republic of Serbia, as well as representatives of national councils of national minorities and civil society organizations.

The conference was focused on the promotion of reconciliation, preventing threats to the security and creating conditions for peaceful coexistence and full integration into society of national and ethnic minorities. The discussion was attended by members of the Committee on Human Rights and Freedoms of the Parliament of Montenegro, who pointed out that Montenegro as a multiethnic, multinational, multi-confessional and multicultural state was a role model in the region, stressing that dialogue, tolerance and understanding are the basic instruments for achieving stability and harmony.   

The second day of the Conference will be focused on national minorities as proactive actors of social cohesion, and will include discussion about experiences of inclusion of minorities and other vulnerable groups in the Western Balkans and Turkey.
