Attendees of 19th generation of School of Human Rights to visit Committee on Human Rights and Freedoms

Blue Room of the Parliament of Montenegro, 3 February 2015

Attendees of the 19th generation of the School of Human Rights, implemented by the Centre for Civic Education (CCE) with support of the US Embassy, will visit the Committee on Human Rights and Freedoms.

The visit will be held in the Blue Room of the Parliament of Montenegro on Tuesday 3 February 2015, in the period from 12:30 to 13:30.

The visit is organized within the Work Programme of the 19th generation of the School of Human Rights, which is attended by 26 secondary school students from all over Montenegro, and the Programme envisages the visits to institutions dealing with promotion and protection of human rights.

Considering that the Committee on Human Rights and Freedoms of the Parliament of Montenegro is recognized as an important element of protection and promotion of human rights, the attendees of the School of Human Rights expressed their interest in visiting the Committee, and learning about its competences and activities which this working body undertakes in order to promote, protect, and affirm human rights.

On that same day, together with representative of the US Embassy and executive director of the Centre for Civic Education (CCE) Ms Daliborka Uljarević, chairperson of the Committee on Human Rights and Freedoms Mr Halil Duković will present certificates to attendees of the 19th generation of the School of Human Rights.

The School of Human Rights provides broad theoretical and practical knowledge on the concept of human rights, affirms the culture of human rights by inspiring and motivating people to advocate for their rights, as well as for the rights of those who are unable to do so themselves and empowers them to have a more direct influence in society in the future. Its goal is to establish a continuous alternative education on human rights. During the previous eighteen generations, the School has been finished by more than 500 citizens, activists of political parties, NGOs, state employees at the local and national level, journalists, students and others who had shown interest to link their actions to the public scene and provide a personal contribution to realising human and minority rights in Montenegro.
