Attendees of the 19thgeneration of the School of Human Rights, implemented by the Centre for Civic Education (CCE) with support of the US Embassy, visited the Committee on Human Rights and Freedoms of the Parliament of Montenegro today.
The visit is organized within the Work Programme of the 19thgeneration of the School of Human Rights, which is attended by 26 secondary school students from all over Montenegro, and the Programme envisages the visits to institutions dealing with promotion and protection of human rights.
Considering that the Committee on Human Rights and Freedoms of the Parliament of Montenegro is recognised as an important element of protection and promotion of human rights, the attendees of the School expressed special interest in the work of this working body.
The Chairperson and members of the Committee on Human Rights and Freedoms informed attendees of the School of Human Rights on competencies and numerous activities of the Committee, implemented within the legislative and control role of the Parliament. They pointed out their very good cooperation with the competent authorities, Protector of the Human Rights and Freedoms of Montenegro, international organisations based in Podgorica, and the NGOs.
Following the presentation of the work of the Committee on Human Rights and Freedoms, the MPs answered the questions by the attendees of the School.
At the very end, there was ceremonious presentation of certificates to attendees of the 19thgeneration of the School of Human Rights. The certificates were presented by: Chairperson of the Committee on Human Rights and Freedoms Mr Halil Duković, executive director of the Centre for Civic Education Ms Daliborka Uljarević, and representative of the US Embassy Mr Jan Krasny.
