The visit is organised within the Work Programme of the XXgeneration of the School of Human Rights, which is attended by secondary school students from all over Montenegro, and the Programme envisages the visits to institutions dealing with promotion and protection of human rights.
Considering that the Committee on Human Rights and Freedoms of the Parliament of Montenegro is recognised as an important element of protection and promotion of human rights, attendees of the School of Human Rights expressed their interest in visiting the Committee, and learning about competences and activities which this working body undertakes in order to promote, protect, and affirm human rights.
The School of Human Rights provides broad theoretical and practical knowledge on the concept of human rights, affirms the culture of human rights by inspiring and motivating people to advocate for their rights, as well as for the rights of those who are unable to do so themselves and empowers them to have a more direct influence in society in the future. Its goal is to establish a continuous alternative education on human rights. During the previous nineteen generations, the School was finished by more than 500 citizens, activists of political parties, NGOs, state employees at the local and national level, journalists, students and others who had shown interest to link their actions to the public scene and provide a personal contribution to exercising human and minority rights in Montenegro.
Previously, on 3 February 2015, attendees of XIX generation of School of Human Rights visited the Committee on Human Rights and Freedoms, and on that occasion certificates were presented to them by Chairperson of the Committee on Human Rights and Freedoms, executive director of the Centre for Civic Education and representative of the US Embassy.
The visit of attendees of the XX generation of the School of Human Rights will be held in the Blue Room of the Parliament of Montenegro, at 13:00h.
