Chairperson of the Committee on Human Rights and Freedoms Mr Halil Duković and Deputy Chairperson of the Committee Ms Ljiljana Đurašković will hold a meeting with representatives of NGO Federation of Associations of Parents of Children and Youth with Developmental Disabilities "Our Initiative", on Friday, 24 April 2015.

The meeting is organised with the aim of continuation of cooperation and implementation of activities envisaged by 2015 Activity Plan of the Committee on Human Rights and Freedoms, devoted to promotion and protection of children’s rights, with special emphasis on the rights of children with developmental disabilities. This is the seventh meeting in a row between the Committee and representatives of this non-governmental organisation. 

Having in mind that the Committee - through legislative and control activity of the Parliament of Montenegro - affirmed both cooperation with relevant institutions and civil sector and international representatives on one side and transparency in all forms of activities aimed at better presentation of its activities to promotion and protection of human  rights and freedoms on the other side, and considering that the idea for establishing cooperation among institutions dealing with children’s rights is excellent and that it represents a good opportunity for sharing knowledge and experience in implementation of significant activities for improving the position of children, the Committee considers as important monitoring implementation of activities performed by competent state bodies with the aim of improving the position of children. This is particularly important bearing in mind the fact that Montenegro is obliged to present during this year its regular Report on fulfilling obligations under the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child as well as Report on Meeting Recommendations which Committee of the United Nations sent to Montenegro in 2010, and what has been established by the Committee’s 2015 Activity Plan for the IV quarter.

Furthermore, the Committee is continuing the implementation of activities devoted to improving the position of children with developmental difficulties, as particularly vulnerable population, and at the meeting with representatives of Federation “Our Initiative” the opinions on the current position of this population and activities necessary to be undertaken in the following period for the purpose of improving their position in society will be shared.

Ms Zorica Kovačević, Minister of Labour, and Mr Radoje Žugić. Minister of Finance are invited to the meeting with representatives of NGO Federation of Associations of Parents of Children and Youth with Developmental Disabilities, in order to discuss in overall the activities performed by the state bodies with the aim of improving the position of children with developmental difficulties and actual forms of actions in the forthcoming period. 

Meeting with representatives of NGO Federation of Associations of Parents of Children and Youth with Developmental Disabilities "Our Initiative" will be held in the Red Room of the Parliament of Montenegro, at 11.00h.
