Topic of the meeting is protection from domestic violence in Montenegro, aimed at fact-finding in the field of implementation of the Law on Domestic Violence Protection. The goal is to obtain the information on how the laws in Montenegro work in the process of protection of safety of victims of violence and in the process of defining responsibility of the offenders, as well as to define the recommendations.
In order to implement the project adequately, the representatives of all these organisations are organising meetings and interviews with representatives of relevant ministries, parliamentary committees, the police, judges, prosecutors, NGOs, social and health services, and other responsible services in Podgorica, Nikšić, Pljevlja, Berane, Kotor and Ulcinj.
Representatives of human rights, along with their national partners, are implementing processes of monitoring implementation of the laws in countries, in order to define violence against women as violation of human rights through analysis of social context, revision of legislation, and judicial practice. The obtained findings are documented as reports, followed by recommendations to the governments based on the international legal framework for human rights.
The meeting will be held in the Blue Room of the Parliament of Montenegro at 08:00.
Camera crews and photoreporters may record the beginning of the meeting, and following the meeting, a press statement will be released.
