Delegation of the Committee on Human Rights and Freedoms composed of Mr Husnija Šabović and Mr Rešad Sijarić - members of the Committee will take part in the conference “A comprehensive humanitarian and political response to the migration and refugee crisis in Europe”, which will take place in Paris, on 16 December 2015.

The Conference is organised by the Committee on Migration, Refugees and Displaced Persons of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe in cooperation with PACE’s Parliamentary Projects Support Division, and with the support of the European Union.

The conference will be held in the French National Assembly, and Mr Thierry Mariani (France, EPP/CD), Chairperson of the Committee on Migration, Refugees and Displaced Persons of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, will open it. The following will also deliver remarks: Mr Claude Bartolone, Speaker of the French National Assembly, Ms Anne Brasseur (Luxembourg, ALDE), President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe and a representative of the French Government.  

The following will participate in the first session titles: “Short- and medium-term concerns and potential solutions”: Mr Amjad Majali, a Member of the Parliament of Jordan and former Minister of Labour, Mr Vasiliki Katrivanou, Member of the Hellenic Parliament, the Secretary of the Standing Committee on Public Administration, Public Order and Justice of the Hellenic Parliament, Mr Meho Omerović, Chairperson of the Committee for Human and Minority Rights and Gender Equality of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Ms Lotta Finstorp, member of the Committee on Social Insurance of the Swedish Parliament and a representative of the Hungarian Parliament.

In the afternoon session titled: “Long-term solutions and co-operation with countries of origin and first asylum”, the following will speak: Mr Michel Moussa, Member of the Parliament of Lebanon, Mr Borislav Bojić, Chair of the Joint Commission on Human Rights in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Mr Andrzej Jaworski, member of the Committee on European Affairs of the Polish Parliament, Mr Rasmus Nordqvist, member of the European Affairs Committee and Foreign Affairs Committee of the Parliament of Denmark and a representative of the Italian Parliament.

At the very end of the conference, the conclusions will be adopted, with final remarks of Mr Irakli Chikovani, Chair of the Subcommittee on Integration.
