Chairperson of the Committee on Human Rights and Freedoms Mr Halil Duković will take part in the conference “Law, Policy, Society, and Discrimination”, organised by the institution of the Protector of Human Rights and Freedoms of Montenegro, with support by the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung, the OSCE, and the Council of Europe.
The conference will begin tomorrow at 10:00h, and it will last for two days, 19 and 20 April 2016, in hotel “Nikić” in Podgorica.
The goal of the Conference, with participants such as representatives of the executive, legislative and judicial powers, representatives of international organisations, civil sector, foreign representatives and experts, is to open a wide social campaign in fighting all forms of discrimination.
In addition to the Chairperson of the Committee on Human Rights and Freedoms, who will welcome the participants in the Conference on behalf of the Committee, the following will address the participants with their introductory remarks: Ms Sonja Tomović-Šundić, Advisor to the President of Montenegro for the field of human and minority rights, Ms Snežana Radović, coordinator of working groups for chapters 23 and 24 in Montenegro’s negotiations with the European Union, Ambassador Ms Janina Hrebičkova, Head of the OSCE Mission to Montenegro, Mr Norbert Beckmann-Dierkes, Director of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation (KAS) for Serbia and Montenegro, and Mr Šućko Baković, Protector of Human Rights and Freedoms of Montenegro.
Moderators of the first panel on the topic "The legal framework of anti-discrimination - the case of Montenegro" will be Mr Sinisa Bjeković, Deputy Protector of Human Rights and Freedoms, and Mr Dušan Ignjatović, Council of Europe’s expert.
Within the second panel there will be discussion on the role of state institutions in the fight against discrimination, and the moderators of the discussion will be Ms Milena Krsmanović, Advisor to the Protector, and Mr Miodrag Pešić, a judge of the High Court in Podgorica.
The third panel will be dedicated to the role of civil society in development of policies to combat discrimination, and the discussion will be moderated by Mr Boris Raonic of the NGO "Civic Alliance" and Mr Nenad Koprivica of the NGO "CEDEM".
Three panels will also be organised on day two of the conference. The first panel on the topic "European perspective, the potential in the field of anti-discrimination" will be moderated by Mr Dražen Cerović, member of the Council for Civilian Control of Police Operations in Montenegro, and Mr Vlado Dedović of the NGO "CEMI".
A panel will be organised where there will be discussion on specific vulnerable groups in the fight against discrimination, and the discussion will be moderated by Mr Mohammed Uković of the Roma Council in Montenegro and Mr Stevan Milivojevic of the LGBT Forum Progress.
The last panel, dedicated to multi-discrimination and social exclusion, will be moderated by Ms Miroslava Mima Ivanović of the NGO "Association of Youth with Disabilities of Montenegro", Mr Vladan Nikolić of the Association of Paraplegics of Montenegro, and Ms Ivana Vujović of the NGO "Juventas".
At the end of the conference, adoption of conclusions was planned.
