Chairperson of the Committee on International Relations and Emigrants Mr Miodrag Vuković met President of the Council of European Diaspora of Montenegro Mr Ljubo Radović and President of the Association of Montenegrins of Istria County Mr Milan Bulajić.
Chairperson of the Committee Mr Miodrag Vuković informed the distinguished guests on competences of the Committee as well as opportunities and modalities for cooperation of emigrants with the Committee. On the occasion, Chairperson Vuković stressed that Montenegro had numerous and significant diaspora, and that connections, relationships and cooperation with the diaspora were inseparable part of internal development and process of regional and European integration of Montenegro.
President of the Council of European Diaspora of Montenegro Mr Ljubo Radović, on behalf of the association he represented, expressed gratitude to Chairperson Vuković for the interest in cooperation with associations of emigrants through adopted Platform on cooperation of the Committee with emigrants from Montenegro. On the occasion, President Radović informed the Chairperson of the Committee on the status of emigrants from Montenegro in the Republic of Croatia as well as possible forms of cooperation and support that Committee on International Relations and Emigrants may provide to members of the Council of European Diaspora of Montenegro.
President of the Association of Montenegrins of Istria County Mr Milan Bulajić thanked to Chairperson of the Committee Mr Miodrag Vuković for the organisation of the meeting and informed him on the work of the Association of Montenegrins and opportunities for cooperation with the Committee on International Relations and Emigrants.
Chairperson of the Committee Mr Miodrag Vuković discusses with distinguished guests the Draft Law on Cooperation of Montenegro with Diaspora, which has been considered in several towns in Montenegro. The guests informed Mr Vuković on objections to the Draft Law text, hence the participants agreed that actual objections and suggestion were to be sent to the Committee on International Relations and Emigrants – as the Committee competent for issues relating to emigrants.
Chairperson of the Committee Mr Miodrag Vuković, at the end of the meeting with distinguished representatives of associations of emigrants, emphasised that the Committee on International Relations and Emigrants recognised the importance – in line with its competences – of establishing the cooperation with association of emigrants from Montenegro, with the aim of protecting rights of its citizens living abroad, developing and improving relationship of emigrants with country of origin and providing help to Montenegrin emigrants through legislative initiative, for the purpose of preserving and strengthening its national, cultural and language identity.
