Chairperson Vuković congratulated to newly-appointed Ambassador on assuming his office and voiced pleasure over the relations between the two countries, saying that previous Romanian ambassadors to Montenegro significantly contributed to development of those.
Mr Vuković said that ambassadors of foreign states and international organisations staying in Montenegro had a significant role in presenting the realistic picture of Montenegro at addresses exceptionally important for Montenegro’s state policy. To that end, Chairperson Vuković presented current activities and expectations regarding European and Euro Atlantic integrations of Montenegro. He said that, in addition to negotiations for the membership to the EU, activities relating to Euro-Atlantic integration were also the priority at the moment and he has been slightly optimistic regarding the NATO Fall Summit which would be held in the United Kingdom, emphasising expectance that Montenegro would get an invitation for membership to the Alliance.
Mr Vuković noted a numerous forms of cooperation among parliamentarians of the two states in various frameworks at bilateral and multilateral level, stating that at the end of the previous year a friendship group for cooperation between the Parliament of Montenegro and Parliament of Romania was established.
AmbassadorNagy voiced pleasure over the opportunity to meet the Chairperson, as he said, of one of the most important committees of the Parliament of Montenegro. He also pointed out to the importance of maintaining regular contacts among ambassadors and parliamentarians, emphasising that Romania agreed with all those countries considering that Montenegro should enter the NATO Alliance and with regard to that, he voiced support to efforts made by the state of Montenegro. AmbassadorNagy said that, during his term of office, he would strive to help Montenegro on its path towards European and Euro Atlantic integrations and that he would work on strengthening the economic cooperation between Montenegro and Romania, and in that context – asked for the support of the Chairperson Vuković in order to make his mission successful.
Chairperson Vuković and Ambassador Nagy agreed that relations between the Parliament of Montenegro and Parliament of Romania were at high level, saying that those served as a good example, being the result of overall good relations between the two countries.
Ambassador Nagy used the opportunity to deliver the invitation to Mr Vuković sent by the Chair of Romanian Senate Foreign Affairs Committee Mr Petru Filip for attending the conference on European integratiom of the Western Balkans countries, which will be held in Bucharest, in the period 17-19 June of the current year.
