Representatives of the Committee on International Relations and Emigrants of the Parliament of Montenegro met with the Chair of the Committee on European Affairs in the Senate of the Republic of France

Chairman of the Committee on International Relations and Emigrants of the Parliament of Montenegro, Mr Miodrag Vuković and members Mr Nikola Gegaj and Mr Danko Šarančić, met with the Senator Simon Sutour, Chair of the Committee on European Affairs in the Senate of the Republic of France

Senator Sutour said that relations between the two countries were good and that the cooperation had been established in almost all areas, pointing out that these relations would be further intensified after the accession of Montenegro to the European Union. Senator Sutour stressed that Montenegro achieved much on its European path and that its future in the European Union was certain. Senator Sutour noted that the Republic of France followed on the development of the countries of the former Yugoslavia and that the common position within the European Union was that these countries must be members of the European family of nations.

Chairman Vuković expressed pleasure over the meeting with the Senator Sutour, whom he informed of the competencies of the Committee he was chairing. In addition, Chairman Vuković agreed with the assessment of the Senator Sutour that much has been done in the process of European integration, and that Montenegro was fully committed to the process. The Chairman stressed that he wished Europe continued to see Montenegro as a serious candidate for joining the European Union, and as a subject that had never been a problem in the region. In the end, he emphasized that Montenegro was a country of modest democratic and constitutional traditions, but an old country which quickly accepted new positive values ​​that were easily accepted in our social reality.

The officials concluded that relations between the two parliaments should further be strengthened and intensified.
