Members of the Committee on International Relations and Emigrants Ms Žana Filipović and Mr Jasmin Sutović had a meeting with members of the Committee on Health, Labour and Social Welfare of the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo.
The meeting of the two committees was focused on the topics of cooperation between Montenegro and Kosovo, whereas the special accent was placed on the possibility of improvement thereof through parliamentary working bodies responsible for various fields.
Member of the Committee on International Relations and Emigrants Ms Žana Filipović informed Kosovo MPs on the responsibilities of that working body, and emphasised that the Committee had been continuously devoted to parliamentary democracy, as the most efficient and best model for establishing and strengthening ties with other states.
On the occasion, she assessed that the visit of Kosovo parliamentarians was a continuation of already confirmed good cooperation of the two parliaments and the two countries. They stated, at the meeting, that continuous expansion of normative and legal base, reflected in numerous agreements signed between Montenegro and Kosovo, was an excellent basis for the implementation of the projects of mutual interest. With regard to that, she particularly singled out the Agreement on the state border between Montenegro and Republic of Kosovo, which has been under parliamentary procedure.
Chairperson of the Committee on Health, Labour and Social Welfare of the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo Ms Flora Brovina voiced pleasure over the visit, which represented a contribution to the overall interstate cooperation. Given the same aim shared by Montenegro and Kosovo when it comes to the European path, and the fact that Montenegro has achieved impressive results in the process of European integration, MP Borovina expressed interest in transmitting the concrete experience in the part of complying the legislation with the acquis of the European Union.
Stating numerous possibilities but also the need of strengthening economic cooperation, MPs Filipović and Brovina agreed that the cooperation in the field of culture and healthcare was of fundamental importance for long-term and quality cooperation, good neighbourly relations and overall prosperity of the whole region.
MP Mr Jasmin Sutovć voiced pleasure over the previous cooperation achieved through parliamentary working bodies. He pointed out that immigrants were undoubtedly the bridge of cooperation between Montenegro and Kosovo, in addition to cultural, commercial and overall economic potential. Believing that good and friendly relations will continue to develop, reflected - among other things - in the visits of this kind, MP Sutović singled out the importance of strengthening cooperation in the field of infrastructure, as a permanent goal of connecting the regional countries.
MPs Ms Filiović and Mr Sutović expressed their expectation that the issue of the constitutional recognition of Montenegrin minority would be resolved soon, and that Montenegrin minority would be recognised by Kosovo Constitution, and based on the acquired status it would exercise relevant rights and the opportunity to participate in the political processes and social life of Kosovo.
In addition to the Chairperson, the Delegation of the Committee on Health, Labour and Social Welfare of the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo was composed of the first Deputy Chairperson of the Committee Ms Njomza Emini, the second Deputy Chairperson of the Committee Mr Fikrim Damka and member Mr Hatim Baxhaku.
The meeting was also attended by Mr Srđan Sentić, Charge d’Affaires of the Republic of Kosovo in Montenegro.
