Chairperson of the Committee on International Relations and Emigrants visits Switzerland

Chairperson of the Committee on International Relations and Emigrants Mr Miodrag Vuković, upon the invitation of President of the Bosniak Diaspora from Montenegro Mr Esmir Rastoder, attended the ceremony on ten years of Montenegro’s independence, held in Zurich in Switzerland.

Visit to Switzerland was a good opportunity for Chairperson of the Committee on International Relations and Emigrants to talk with emigrants on the current issues related to the status of emigrants and emigrant associations in Switzerland, in light of the Law on Cooperation of Montenegro with Diaspora.

Addressing the participants of the ceremonious event, Mr Miodrag Vuković stressed that Montenegro had numerous and important diaspora and that ties, relations and cooperation with diaspora were inextricable part of our internal development, as well as Montenegro’s regional and European integration.

Also, Chairperson Vuković emphasised that emigrants were the best cooperation bridge between Montenegro and Switzerland, noting that they carried big potential which can help to our state at all levels.  On this occasion, he emphasised that emigrants from Montenegro were participants of all positive processes and particularly thanked for the immeasurable contribution they had given to Montenegro’s independence.  According to him, ten years of restoration of Montenegro’s independence, is a good opportunity to remind ourselves that we have restored the independence through democracy procedure, noting that Montenegro had a safe future which would be built by the effort of all its citizens - those living in in the state of Montenegro and those living outside of its borders.

At the end, Chairperson Vuković concluded that by restoring independence, Montenegro has permanently provided rights for their citizens to decide on their fate.
