Upon the invitation of Mr Zsolt Németh, Chairperson of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Hungarian National Assembly, Chairperson of the Committee on International Relations and Emigrants Mr Miodrag Vuković attended the ceremonious sitting, during which the Hungarian National Assembly ratified the NATO Accession Protocol for Montenegro, with 180 votes “in favour” and one abstained.
Following the ceremonious sitting, the Chairperson of the Committee on International Relations and Emigrants had a working lunch with Chairperson of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Hungarian National Assembly Mr Németh. On this occasion, the interlocutors agreed that the two countries had traditionally good relations, which had been continuously upgraded, and that the ratification of the Protocol was an additional incentive for improving the relations in the future also, particularly when it comes to help which Hungary may provide to European and Euro-Atlantic standards.
Chairperson of the Committee on International Relations and Emigrants Mr Miodrag Vuković also had an official meeting with Speaker of the Hungarian National Assembly Mr László Kövér. The Speaker of the Hungarian National Assembly extended sincere congratulations to Montenegro for its results achieved on the path of European and particularly Euro-Atlantic integration. He noted that Montenegro had succeeded to achieve high democracy standards for a short period of time, which was the condition to be fully integrated in international democratic institutions - as a full member and credible ally. On that path Montenegro was fully supported by Hungary, therefore his satisfaction is even greater. He showed interest for the current political and social developments in Montenegrin society and invited Montenegro to continue developing successful cooperation with Hungary in all fields, in which the parliaments of the two countries could and should play one of the most important roles in the coming period.
Chairperson Vuković thanked to H.E. Kövér, Hungarian Parliament, Hungary and its citizens. He conveyed sincere greetings and words of gratitude of President of Parliament of Montenegro Mr Darko Pajovića to the Speaker of the Hungarian Parliament. He also used this opportunity to inform the Hungarian counterparts about efforts which Montenegro invested with regard to full democratic emancipation and the realization of national interests of the country, including current and future interests of citizens. He expressed conviction that the process of ratification of the Protocol would go by accelerated dynamics, and voiced expectation that the parliaments of NATO member states would complete this process by the end of this year.
The interlocutors agreed that Montenegro’s current path was the best choice for its citizens. They shared a belief that by admission to NATO Montenegro would take an enhanced commitment to be a new promoter of democratic values nourished by members of this organisation, in the framework of the existing good neighbourly relations with regional countries, and thus help other states in the region to be soon on the path, if they have not already, where Montenegro certainly has been for several years. In the end, both sides expressed the desire to further develop cooperation between the two parliaments and the willingness to be a significant part of overall cooperation between the two countries in all fields.
Chairperson of the Committee on International Relations and Emigrants Mr Miodrag Vuković also met Deputy State General for Security Mr Zsolt Csutov,
