Chairperson of the Committee on International Relations and Emigrants visits associations of emigrants from Montenegro in Albania

Representatives of Montenegrin institutions paid a working visit to Shkodra

Chairperson of the Committee on International Relations and Emigrants Mr Miodrag Vuković, Director of the Diaspora Administration Mr Predrag Mitrović and Director General for Consular Affairs in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Mr Željko Stamatović paid a working visit to Shkodra. On this occasion, they met representatives of the Association of emigrants “Alba Montenegro” and the Association of emigrants “Duklja”.

During the meetings they discussed numerous topics important for our emigrants in Albania, including the following: position of our community, rights they achieve in a receiving country, fulfilling legally prescribed commitments particularly when it comes to establishing a council for cooperation with emigrates, organisation and implementation of projects of schools and courses of the mother tongue.

The interlocutors agreed that the Law on Cooperation of Montenegro with Diaspora presented a big step in terms of systemic regulation of this subject, prescribing numerous obligations aimed at significant improvement of the overall cooperation with emigrants. During the meeting, they discussed the establishment of a council for cooperation with emigrants, aim of its establishment and its first meeting which is to be convened in autumn of this year.

During the discussion with representatives of the association “Alba Montenegro”, members of the Montenegrin delegation said that they would, in cooperation with responsible institutions, strive to ensure necessary support to organisation of courses of the mother tongue.

In the conversation with representatives of the association “Duklja”, members of the Montenegrin delegation emphasised full devotion to activities aimed at preserving identities of descendants of our emigrants and achieving equality with other minority communities.

Members of the association expressed gratitude over the visit of representatives of Montenegrin institutions, which has confirmed once again the care of the country of origin and readiness of the institutions of the system to fulfil needs and requests of our emigrants within their purview.
