At today’s 111th meeting, the Committee on Political System, Judiciary and Administration held a control hearing of: Supreme Public Prosecutor Mr Ivica Stanković, Chief Special Prosecutor Mr Milivoje Katnić, and Minister of Justice Mr Zoran Pažin on the topic: “The current application in practice and effects of the new institutes from the Criminal Procedure Code (plea agreement, cooperative witness and others), their scope and limitations, and the application of the Law on Special Public Prosecutor's Office - effects and problems, with special focus on the model for electing the head of a special investigation team”.
The control hearing was held with the aim of collecting information and expert opinions with regard to legislative solutions related to the institute of plea agreement and institute of cooperative witness as well as norms of the Law on Special Public Prosecutor's Office related to the election of the Head of the special investigative team.
Supreme Public Prosecutor Mr Ivica Stanković, Chief Special Prosecutor Mr Milivoje Katnić, and Minister of Justice Mr Zoran Pažin comprehensively answered questions posed by MPs- members of the Committee. Following the constructive discussion, the participants decided to prepare a report with proposals for conclusions.
Following the 111th, the Committee held the 112th meeting, during which a list of candidates who applied to Public Vacancy Notice for the election of two members of the Prosecutorial Council from among respectable lawyers was determined.
