The Committee on Education, Science, Culture and Sports held its fifteenth meeting, with the following agenda:
Approval of minutes from the twelfth, thirteenth, and fourteenth meeting of the Committee;
- Proposal for the Law on Amendments to the Law on Higher Education, submitted by the MPs Branka Tanasijević, MA; Srđa Popović, docent PhD; Saša Pešić; Rešid Adrović; and Draginja Vuksanović, PhD;
- Informing members of the Committee on the Report on the Study Visit of the Committee Delegation to the National Assembly of Hungary;
- Current issues.
The Committee considered the Proposal for the Law on Amendments to the Law on Higher Education and unanimously decided to propose to the Parliament to adopt this Proposal for the Law. The amendment to the Law, referring to extending the end of studies deadline for the students who enrolled in the studies under the system that was in force before introduction of the Bologna Declaration, will extend the end of studies deadline for these students for two more years (by the end of the school year 2014/2015).
Under the second item of the agenda, members of the Committee got acquainted with the Report on the Study Visit of the Committee Delegation to the National Assembly of Hungary, from 9 to 11 September 2013. The Committee agreed that the visit was extremely successful and at a very high level.
Under the third item of the agenda – Current Issues, the MP Srđan Perić demanded that the Committee should hold a control hearing of the Minister of Education regarding the state of the publishing business, a control hearing of the Minister of Culture regarding the frequent attacks on the journalists and photo-reporters, and a control hearing of the Minister of Education and the Minister of Culture regarding, as he pointed out, the case of abuse of children for the political party purposes in the kindergarten “Zvjezdani vrt” (Starry Garden) in Golubovci.
The MP Perić will submit his requests for the control hearings to the Committee in writing, after which the Committee will vote on them.
At today’s meeting, the minutes from the twelfth, thirteenth, and fourteenth meeting of the Committee were approved.
