The meeting was also attended by Ms. Bojka Đukanović, professor, PhD, coordinator of the Programme for education/human rights of the Council of Europe and Ms. Vidosava Kašćelan, advisor in the Bureau for Education Services and coordinator to the Council of Europe projects.
Topic of the meeting was the joint project of the European Union and the Council of Europe “Regional support to inclusive education”. The project is intended for the countries of the Southeast Europe (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Montenegro, Serbia, Macedonia and Kosovo). The aim of the Project is strengthening of social inclusion and social cohesion in the region by inclusive education promotion. The project has been implemented since January 2013 and it has been foreseen to last 35 months.
The main activity of the project “Regional support to inclusive education” will be focused on pilot schools aimed at raising the level of understanding of benefits of inclusive education through support and engaging of 49 pilot schools (seven per user: three elementary schools, two general secondary (high) schools and 2 specialised high schools).
Chairwoman of the Committee Ms. Branka Tanasijević, MA, acquainted the representative of the Council of Europe with legal regulation in the field of inclusive education. She expressed support to this project and emphasized the necessity of raising awareness on importance of inclusive education. Chairwoman of the Committee stated the possibility of organizing thematic meeting of the Committee on Education, Science and Sports which would deal with these issues.
