At the 29th meeting of the Committee on Education, Science, Culture and Sports, held today the Information on scientific research funding in Montenegro in 2014, adopted by the Government of Montenegro on the meeting of 20 February 2014, was considered. The Committee concluded that the information was drafted with quality and that it gave reasons for optimism, due to the tendency of a more comprehensive approach to this very important area.
Considering the initiative of a group of students, the Committee decided to send a letter to the Ministry of Education, in order to amend the Rulebook on the criteria, terms, conditions and fees for the realization of the right to food and accommodation in dormitories, student loans, scholarships and transportation. The amendments relate to the scoring criteria for the admission of students for accommodation and food in dormitories, and the introduction of bonus points for students who have had high grades throughout high school.
The Committee got acquainted with problems that arose during the implementation of the Law on Financing of Political Parties, referring to the temporary suspension of payment of student loans which has recently been discussed in the media. After a constructive and professional review of the situation, the Committee decided to address the Committee on Economy, Finance and Budget, as the competent working body, which according to the Article 32a of the Law on Financing of Political Parties shall supervise the implementation of this Law, to take a stand in order to find ways to overcome the problem.
