The 31st thematic meeting of the Committee on Education, Science, Culture and Sports was devoted to the upcoming conference "Quality education for better schools, better student achievement and the future", which will be held in Podgorica, from 8 to 10 July 2014. The conference is organized by the UNICEF Office in Montenegro and the Ministry of Education, in order to encourage education reform under three important issues:
- widening of pre-school education in order to increase the percentage of children who attend this education level to 95 percent;
- improving the quality of primary and secondary education in terms of strengthening the monitoring of the teaching, the teaching environment, and teaching staff;
- paying attention to innovation in the field of computer technology and its applications in education, and strengthening of cognitive skills in order to achieve success and social progress, such as motivation, optimism, curiosity, perseverance and integrity.
The Head of the UNICEF Office, Mr Benjamin Perks informed members of the Committee in detail with the goals of the conference. The Chairwoman of the Committee, Ms Branka Tanasijević, will take part in the conference during the panel discussion. The conference will also be attended by the Deputy Chairman of the Committee, Mr Radosav Nišavić.
