The eleventh meeting of the Gender Equality Committee, held on 24 July, was attended by Ms Rose Sarr, the expert of UNDP team for gender equality with the seat in UNDP headquarters in New York, who spoke on the importance of mainstreaming social and economy policies and partnership frameworks for work on mainstreaming policies and encouragement of women.
Additionally, the Committee was informed on implementation of the Gender Equality Programme IPA 2010, which has been implemented in Montenegro jointly by Ministry for Human and Minority Rights – Gender Equality Department and EU Delegation to Montenegro. The Programme has been carried out for three years, covering three components: violence against women, political encouragement of women and economic encouragement of women. The Committee has been actively involved in realisation of the project in the manner that its representatives are members of three councils and they participate in some activities of the Project Steering Committee.
Coordinator of the Programme in the UNDP Office to Montenegro Ms Kaća Đuričković presented previous results of the projects implemented so far, aimed at encouraging women enterprenuership and economic encouragement of women, establishing sustainable system of protection and support to victims of domestic violence as well as goals and activities in the field of political encoragement of women.
Gender Equality Committee and UNDP agreed to cooperate in the implementation of remaining activities of the Programme.
