International Conference titled “Mediterranean Civil Society and Women in Leadership”, organised jointly by the Gender Equality Agency (Bosnia and Herzegovina), America - Bosnia Foundation (ABF) and Centre for Transatlantic Relations (SAIS), was held in Sarajevo, in the period 8-10 November.
The aim of the Conference is intensifying of the dialogue and communication among Mediterranean countries as well as initiating activities in the region, with special reference to empowering of women and achieving gender equality and strengthening civil society role in these processes.
The following topics were discussed at the Conference: "Women in Politics and Women Role in Bringing Democracies and Peace: 1325", "Women in Business: How to Become a CEO; Key to Start Business; How to Achieve Equality at Work", "Championing Women Globally: Women in Media - Leadership, Ethics and Professionalism""How to Fight Violence: Bringing Society Together", "Southeast Europe – Northern Africa: Women Partnership for Change", "Women Entrepreneurship - Success Stories".
During the Conference, representatives of Northern Africa countries joined the Declaration on cooperation of institutional mechanisms for gender equality signed by the Western Balkans countries in Sarajavo, in 2005.
Ms Nada Drobnjak, Chairperson of the Gender Equality Committee of the Parliament of Montenegro and Ms Irena Bošković, Head of the Gender Equality Department in the Ministry for Human and Minority Rights represented Montenegro at the Conference.
