Experiences on turning the goals of the UN Security Council Resolution 1325 „Women, peace and security“ into the practical measures of states have been exchanged at two-days international conference on gender equality held from 26 to 28 May in Belgrade, which was attended by the Chair of the Gender Equality Committee Ms Nada Drobnjak.
The following was talked about: how women contribute to peacebuilding, which are the good practices of involving women and gender perspectives in planning and performing military operations, and what countries have the best models of integrating gender perspective in leading the armies.
The gathering was organized within the project which is aimed at creating instruments for measuring the progress of integrating the gender issues in leading the armies that are members of NATO and Partnership for Peace, whose member is Montenegro as well. The Conference represents the most important event this year, within the programme Science for Peace and Security, under the patronage of NATO.
The Conference was opened by Ms Mari Skare, NATO Special Representative for implementation of the UN Security Council resolutions dealing with the issue of women, peace and security.
