The conference was organized with the aim to highlight the importance of gender equality for the development of the information society, namely the importance of a balanced participation of women and men in the implementation and use of information and communication technology (ICT).
The data was presented that in Montenegro in the field of information and communication technologies 33% of women have been working, about 35% of women have never turned on a computer, and that three faculties of information technology, from three universities in Montenegro, enrolled 872 students, out of whom 153 were women and 719 men, during the academic year 2003/2014. It was noted that women were not only users of ICT, but that they had to work on the production, innovation and decision-making in a knowledge society, and in order for that to be achieved, it was necessary to integrate gender analysis into all strategies of ICT.
Chairwoman of the Committee, Nada Drobnjak, was the moderator of the Conference. The Conference was addressed by Radule Novović, Director General of the Directorat in the Ministry for Information Society and Telecommunications, Milica Vukotić, Dean of the Faculty of Information Systems and Technology, Vanja Grgurović, Head of the Department for Information Technology of the Administration for Inspection Affairs and Aleksandra Popović, from the company ″E3 Consulting″.
