Chairperson of Gender Equality Committee participates in Conference “Women and Heritage – Towards the founding of Women’s Museum of Montenegro”

Chairperson of the Gender Equality Committee Ms Nada Drobnjak participated in the Conference “Women and Heritage – Towards the founding of Women’s Museum of Montenegro”, which was held in Cetinje today. Chairperson of the Committee spoke on the topic “Gender equality politics and inclusion of gender approach in managing cultural heritage in Montenegro”.

The idea of organising the conference stemmed from the initiative for founding of the Women’s Museum of Montenegro, which was established in the end of 2013. The goals of the Conference are: informing the local cultural and historical heritage experts on this initiative, as well as on the experiences of the European gender/women’s museology, increasing the interest of local experts in the gender approach to cultural and historical heritage, as well as sharing ideas on the significance of research and presentation of women’s cultural and historical heritage of Montenegro, as well as the issues regarding the founding of the Women’s Museum of Montenegro.

The Conference was opened by the Secretary General of the National Commission for UNESCO Ms Marija Ražnatović.

The Conference was organised by the NGO NOVA Feminist Culture Centre, under the auspices of the UNESCO Participation Programme, and in cooperation with the National Commission for UNESCO and the Ministry of Culture of Montenegro.
