Representatives of the Gender Equality Committee and the Administrative Committee today met with ODIHR experts Ms Karolina Leaković, Nedim Hogić, and Ms Lana Ačkar. The meeting was held with the goal of drafting the Plan for Greater Consideration of Gender Aspects Through Work of the Parliament. Creation, adoption, and implementation of the Plan should raise awareness on the issues of gender equality and the significance of integration of gender equality policies, as well as establish mechanisms for achieving gender equality in the Parliament of Montenegro.
The adoption of the Plan for Greater Consideration of Gender Aspects Through Work of the Parliament is one of the measures within the Action Plan for Strengthening the Legislative and Oversight Role of the Parliament of Montenegro for 2015. The Gender Equality Committee is the responsible authority for that activity and it was envisaged that the Plan would be adopted in the III quarter of the current year.
Starting from the fact that this obligation stems from the Action Plan, the Committee requested expert support from the OSCE Mission to Montenegro, aimed at receiving professional assistance for drafting this document and overview of comparative experiences.
The meeting was attended by the Chairperson and a member of the Committee - Ms Nada Drobnjak and Ms Branka Tanasijević respectively, and members of the Administrative Committee - Mr Rifat Rastoder and Mr Rešad Sijarić.
