Delegation of the Gender Equality Committee participates in the Inter-parliamentary Meeting in Brussels on the occasion of International Women's Day

Topic: “Women refugees and asylum seekers in the EU”

Chairperson of the Gender Equality Committee Ms Nada Drobnjak and members of the Gender Equality Committee Mr Nikola Gegaj and Ms Branka Tanasijević participated in the Inter-parliamentary Meeting, held in Brussels on 3 March, organised by the Committee on Women's Rights and Gender Equality (FEMM) of the European Parliament, on the occasion of International Women's Day in 2016.     

The meeting was held on the topic “Women refugees and asylum seekers in the EU”. The speakers at its opening were: Mr Martin Schulz, President of the European Parliament, Ms Mary Robinson, former President of Ireland,  and Ms Nawal Soufi, human rights activist.

Within the panel, they discussed on the following topics: “Violence against women refugees and asylum seekers”;  “Gender and healthcare: the situation of refugees and asylum seekers”, and “Integration of women refugees”.

Delegation of the Gender Equality Committee of the Parliament of Montenegro participated in the panel titled “Gender and healthcare: the situation of refugees and asylum seekers”.

The Inter-parliamentary Meeting has gathered numerous high level delegations from national parliaments of the EU member states, candidate countries, Norway, and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe

Within marking of International Women's Day in 2016, the photo
exhibition on the topic "Women refugees and asylum seekers in the EU” was organised in the European Parliament, on 2 March, attended by representatives of the Gender Equality Committee of the Parliament of Montenegro.
