Gender Equality Committee of the Parliament of Montenegro, in cooperation with the Centre for Roma Initiative - Nikšić and the IPA Section Montenegro, organises a Regional Conference on the topic “Prevention of Child, Forced, Arranged Marriages in the Communities of Roma and Egyptians”. The Conference will be held on 8 April (Friday) in the building of the Parliament of Montenegro - Blue Room, starting at 9:00h.
The speakers at its opening include: Ms Nada Drobnjak, Chairperson of the Gender Equality Committee, Ms Fana Delija, Executive Coordinator of the Centre for Roma Initiative - Nikšić, Mr Vojislav Dragović, President of the International Police Association - IPA Section Montenegro, Ms Margaret Ann Uyehara, US Ambassador in Podgorica,Mr Suad Numanović, Minister of Human and Minority Rights, Ms Zorica Kovačević, Minister of Labour and Social Welfare, Ms Jadranka Miličević, representative of the CARE International-BiH.
The Conference will be attended by: representatives of the NGOs from Montenegro, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo, and Macedonia, as well as representatives of the ministries, judiciary, Protector of Human Rights and Freedoms of Montenegro, Office for Fight Against Trafficking in Human Beings, US Embassy in Podgorica, and international organisations.
The Conference is organised within the project “Regional Cooperation in Combating of Child, Forced, Arranged Marriages in the Communities of Roma and Egyptians”, implemented by the Centre for Roma Initiative - Nikšić, in cooperation with the IPA Section Montenegro, with financial support by the US Embassy in Podgorica.
Holding of the Regional Conference on 8 April will mark International Roma Day.
