At today’s meeting, the Committee on Tourism, Agriculture, Ecology and Spatial Planning has considered the Proposal for the Law on Amendments to the Law on Agriculture and Rural Development, submitted by MPs Mr Neven Gošović, Mr Aleksandar Damjanović and Mr Obrad Gojković.
Representative of the proposer MP Neven Gošović says that the Proposal for the Law is aimed at improving material position of elderly households in rural areas, and that the budget projected for 2015 may allocate the means for increasing the elderly fees. Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Mr Petar Ivanović says that increase of elderly fees has not been envisaged by the Proposal for the 2015 Budget Law of Montenegro. He says that a developmental component should be a mechanism which would return the younger generation to the countryside and agriculture or make them stay at the countryside. He emphasises that savings achieved by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development are being allocated to social benefits which do not fall solely under his competences.
Following the vote by the Committee, the Proposal for the Law on Amendments to the Law on Agriculture and Rural Development was not supported by the required majority.
