In addition to members of the Committee on Health, Labour and Social Welfare, the following participated in the meeting by invitation: Mr Mensud Grbović, MD, PhD, Assistant to the Minister of Health, Mr Nebojša Crnogorac, MD, oncologist, Director of the Clinic for Oncology and Radiotherapy at the Clinical Centre of Montenegro, Ms Dijana Laković and Ms Marina Peković, representatives of NGO “Zdrava Dona Montenegrina”.
Chairperson of the Committee Mr Zoran Jelić said that October was the month during which the fight against breast cancer had been promoted. He emphasised that the disease could not be prevented, but it could be diagnosed and cured in time.
Committee member MP Zorica Kovačević provided mammographic examination for women, in the Medical Centre in Danilovgrad, during this and next week. The examination is provided for interested women from the Parliament tomorrow, also in the Medical Centre in Danilovgrad.
Mr Nebojša Crnogorac, MD had a comprehensive presentation, important for public opinion. He pointed out the importance of early diagnosis of disease and presented a set of statistical data, including the one that from September 2012 until August 2013 the total number of registered persons was 277, out of which 275 women and two men. The average age of diseased was 58 years. He emphasised that the aim was to reduce the mortality of women with breast cancer, since the number of death was smaller if the disease was diagnosed in time. There were 14 mammographic units in Montenegro.
Chairperson of the Committee Mr Zoran Jelić pointed out that the Committee on Health, Labour and Social Welfare was opened for cooperation in realisation of the programme implemented in this field, and urged all women to undergo the mammographic examination in the Medical Centre in Danilovgrad.
