The Committee on Health, Labour and Social Welfare of the Parliament of Montenegro devoted its 24th meeting to the celebration of World Diabetes Day.
In addition to Committee members, the meeting was also attended by Mr Sreten Kavarić, MD, Director of the Internal Clinic of Clinical Centre of Montenegro and Mr Dragan Likić, MD, Head of the Register for Diabetes in the Institute of Public Health, who had presentations.
More than hundred MPs and staff of the Parliament of Montenegro controlled sugar blood level in the premises of the Parliament of Montenegro. The control was made by the team of Clinical Centre of Montenegro, and around 90% of examinee had normal results.
It was emphasised that the public had to be aware of the need for early detection of diabetes and manners of its prevention. In Montenegro the number of people having a diabetes and not knowing itis around 15 thousands.
During today’s meeting it was agreed that a meeting which would be focused on the strike of disabled persons from Bijelo Polje should be scheduled urgently, and Minister of Labour and Social Welfare Mr Predrag Bošković will be invited to attend it as well as disabled persons who had been striking.
