38th meeting of the Committee on Health, Labour and Social Welfare held

Members of the Committee on Health, Labour and Social Welfare of the Parliament of Montenegro held a meeting with Ms Zsuzsanna Jakab, Director of the World Health Organization's Regional Office for Europe.

In addition to Ms Zsuzsanna Jakab, the meeting was attended by: Mr Mensud Grbović, Assistant Minister of Health, Ms Mira Jovanovski-Dašić, Director of the Directorate for Bioethics and International Cooperation in the Ministry of Health, Ms Mirjana Đuranović, Independent Advisor for International Cooperation in the Ministry of Health, Mr Dražen Ljumović, Head of the Cabinet of the Minister of Health and Ms Mina Brajović, Head of the World Health Organisation Office for Montenegro.

Director of the WHO Regional Office Ms Zsuzsanna Jakab emphasised that it was very important for a state to consider the funds invested in health system as good investment. The bilateral agreement which the World Health Organization is to sign with the Ministry of Health is of high importance. She said that it was necessary to adopt the Law on Health Protection as soon as possible, since the delay of thereof has been harmful for patients.  She said that Montenegro has made a significant progress regarding the health system and that it could count in the future on the support of the World Health Organization, both Regional Office in Copenhagen and Office of the World Health Organization in Montenegro.

Sharing information resulted in high-quality and educational discussion, where the following took part: Director of the WHO Regional Office Ms Zsuzsanna Jakab, Chairperson of the Committee Mr Zoran Jelić and members of the Committee: Ms Zorica Kovačević, Mr Zoran Srzentić, Mr Goran Tuponja and Mr Halil Duković.
