44th meeting of the Committee on Health, Labour and Social Welfare held

Four items of the agenda considered 

At its 44th meeting held today, the Committee on Health, Labour and Social Welfare considered four items of the agenda, namely:

1. Information of the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare pertaining to social card and plans for accommodating homeless, as well as the request by Pensioners' Party of Montenegro;

2. Acquainting of Committee members with petition by the Social Inclusion Institute;

3. Information by the Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office from Berane relating to conclusions from the control hearing on “Epidemiology situation in Berane”;

4. Acquainting of Committee members with official letter of the Ministry of Health pertaining to conclusions from the joint meeting of the Committee on Health, Labour and Social Welfare and Gender Equality Committee in 2013.

Within first item of the agenda, members of the Committee on Health, Labour and Social Welfare got acquainted with Information submitted by the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare pertaining to social card and plans for accommodating homeless, as well as the request by Pensioners' Party of Montenegro. The Committee agreed to hold a thematic meeting in the period to come, during which the position of homeless and implementation of a social card would be considered. Considering the petition which the Social Inclusion Institute sent to the Committee on Health, Labour and Social Welfare relating to the help to person suffering from cancer of the cervical portion of the spine, members of the Committee agreed to send a request to the Ministry of Health and Health Insurance Fund of Montenegro, in order to provide a further treatment to that person. Additionally, it was agreed that members of the Committee on Health, Labour and Social Welfare would help materially by giving a certain amount of money of their salaries for the help.


Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office from Berane submitted to the Committee on Health, Labour and Social Welfare the Information on undertaken measures from their scope of work relating to the conclusions from the control hearing, on the topic: “Epidemiology situation in Berane”. They concluded that the Committee on Health, Labour and Social Welfare should require additional information from the Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office. Members of the Committee on Health, Labour and Social Welfare got acquainted with official letter of the Ministry of Health pertaining to conclusions from the joint meeting of the Committee on Health, Labour and Social Welfare and Gender Equality Committee in 2013. The concerned information contains the number of mammographic examinations carried out in health institutions during 2012 and 2013, as well as information relating to purchase of gynecological table accessible to persons with invalidity. Following detailed consideration of the Information, members of the Committee on Health, Labour and Social Welfare of the Parliament of Montenegro concluded that an official letter should be sent to the Ministry of Health with the aim of initiating the National programme for screening the breast cancer. Additionally, the Committee will send an official letter to the Minister of Health in order to urge on personal physicians to send patients above 40 years to mammographic examinations. Also, the participants proposed employment of additional staff in a number of medical centres and hospitals in Montenegro, whose task will be to read mammographic shots.

During the meeting, conclusions from the consultative hearing on the topic: “Frequent attacks to medical workers in Montenegro” were adopted as well as from the meeting devoted to disabled workers from the north of Montenegro held in Bijelo Polje and from the meeting devoted to celebration of the World Autism Awareness Day. The conclusions will be sent to bodies relevant to implementation of those.
