Committee on Health, Labour and Social Welfare holds its 51st meeting

Three agenda items were considered on today’s meeting of the Committee on Health, Labour and Social Welfare:

1. Informing of members of the Committee with letters of NGO “Disabled Veterans Association”, No. 30 and 31 of 13 June 2014 and 8 July 2014;

2. Informing of members of the Committee with documents that the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe adopted on the 2014 Summer Session, forwarded to the Committee on Health, Labour and Social Welfare by the Head of the delegation of the Parliament of Montenegro to PACE, Predrag Sekulić and

3. Amendment to the Proposal for the Law on Amendments to the Labour Law, submitted by members Almer Kalač and Suljo Mustafić.

Members of the Committee, within the first agenda item, got informed with letters of NGO “Disabled Veterans Association”, who applied that the most severely disabled, groups I to IV with 60 -100 percent disability, be entitled to a pension under special conditions. The letter said that, with the adoption of the proposed amendments to the Pension and Disability Insurance Law,about one hundred most disabled veterans would benefit from such a pension, where the average pension would be at the level of the average pension in Montenegro. The Committee decided to forward the letters to the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare, in order to provide an answer to persons who had addressed the Committee.

The documents that the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe adopted on the 2014 Summer Session include three resolutions: Resolution 1993 (2014) – “Decent work for all”; Resolution 1994 (2014) – “Refugees and the right to work” and Resolution 1995 (2014) – “Ending child poverty in Europe”. Once the Committee has obtained the translation of these resolution, they would be considered at the meeting of the Committee.

The representative of the proposer of the Proposal for the Law on Amendments to the Labour Law did not accept the amendment submitted by members Almer Kalač and Suljo Mustafić. The Committee on Health, Labour and Social Welfare of the Parliament of Montenegro did not accept the amendment submitted by members Almer Kalač and Suljo Mustafić as well.

Aside from the members of the Committee, the meeting was also attended by the representative of the proposer of the Law, Slobodan Filipović, the Managing Director in the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare and the representative of the introducer of the amendment, member Almer Kalač.
