Committee on Health, Labour and Social Welfare, at the 58th meeting held today, considered the Proposal for the Law on Health Care. Apart from the members of the Committee, in the capacity of the proponent of the Proposal for the Law on Health Care, the meeting was attended by the Minister of Health, Miodrag Radunović, Assistant Minister Gorica Savović, as well as the Head of the Cabinet of the Minister of Health, Dražen Ljumović.
It was noted at the meeting that the Proposal for the Law was a significant step compared to previous solutions, and the other important aspect was that the scope of protection and levels of health care were not reduced, but much improved. A prevailing belief was that young doctors should be sent to finish specialisation, especially those with a high grade point average, that it was unacceptable that a specialist doctor should be in his fifties, and it was stated that it was necessary to propose medical examinations and health care for elite athletes. During the meeting, attention was paid to methods of traditional medicine, especially Chinese and Indian. The need for the provision of health careof missing persons was suggested, there being about 40 of them. Also, it was pointed out that special attention should be directed towards the education and training of doctors, continuously, which would be the best guarantee of quality treatment of population.
Conflicting opinions were also heard about the best time for holding the funeral service of the deceased, at the same time taking into account religious affiliations as well.
As the proponent could not declare on the amendment of the MP Emilo Labudović, it was decided to discuss it when the opinion of the Government was received.
After a comprehensive discussion, the Committee endorsed the Proposal for the Law on Health Care with majority of votes, and proposed its adoption by the Parliament of Montenegro.
