59th meeting of the Committee on Health, Labour and Welfare held

At its 59th meeting held today, the Committee on Health, Labour and Social Welfare considered the following item of the agenda: Support for the rehabilitation of children with disabilities within the practice of Spiritual Centre Sukuruć in Tuzi.

The Committee meeting was held in Catholic Spiritual Centre “Sanctae Crucis” Sukuruć. In addition to the Committee members, the meeting was attended by the Deputy Minister of Education for Preschool and Primary Education of Persons with Special Needs Ms Vesna Vučurović, Advisor at the Ministry of Health Ms Senka Klikovac, Advisor at the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare for Persons with Disabilities Ms Mirjana Đurić, Manager at the Association of Youth with Disabilities of Montenegro Ms Sandra Nedović and Head of Centre father Frano Dušaj.   

Head of Centre father Frano Dušaj informed the attendees on the work of this preschool institution aimed at integration. He pointed out that this Spiritual Centre hosted a lot of children with special needs from various regions in Montenegro and of various religions. He stated that there were two experts working with the children simultaneously, and that the expert team working with the children was being continuously educated and trained. Father Frano Dušaj also described the work of ergotherapy performed at the Centre. An interesting piece of information is that this Centre provides professional training for parents of children using their services. Head of Centre father Frano Dušaj expressed hope that this Centre would soon obtain the licence to work.     

Through analysing the work of this Centre the Committee members provided their full support to it, stating that the Committee was at their disposal in accordance with its competencies.

Following the completion of the meeting, father Frano Dušaj, with the Committee members and other attendees, took a tour of the Spiritual Centre “Sanctae Crucis” Sukuruć and showed his guests the equipment used by the children, which followed the recognised trends in the country and the region.
