Committee on Health, Labor and Social Welfare held 68th meeting

Control hearing was held 

Committee on Health, Labor and Social Welfare held a control hearing of Dr. Mensud Grbović, Director General of the Directorate for Health Protection in the Ministry of Health, Dr. Boban Mugoša, Director of the Institute for Public Health and Dr. Tomislav Jeremić, the outgoing director of the General Hospital in Bijelo Polje, on the topic "Current situation in the General Hospital in Bijelo Polje". Dr. Miodrag Radunović resigned on 18 November 2014 and the Parliament of Montenegro released him from the duty of minister at its Sitting on 25 November 2014, and according to the Rules of Procedure of the Parliament of Montenegro, he was not obliged to come to the control hearing. Shortly before the meeting, the Committee was delivered a note from Dr. Radunović stating that his position about the current situation in the General Hospital in Bijelo Polje and silence in the management of health institutions was expressed through resignation from the post of the Minister of Health. Attached was the statement given to the media about the chronology of events in the General Hospital Bijelo Polje and conducted activities initiated by the Ministry of Health announced on 17 November 2014 while he was still the head of this institution.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Zvonko Puletić, former Head of the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics in the General Hospital in Bijelo Polje; Dr. Haka Tahirović, former Head of the Department of Neonatology in the General Hospital in Bijelo Polje; Dr. Danojla Dakić, Director of the Institute for Children's Diseases KCCG in Podgorica, Višnja Orban, chief health and sanitary inspector of Montenegro and Slaviša Knežević, the father of the baby who died in the Institute for Children's Diseases KCCG in Podgorica.  

A few hours' discussion resulted in answers to questions of MPs addressed to persons who have responded to the invitation to attend the meeting in connection with the subject of control hearing "Current situation in the General Hospital in Bijelo Polje”.

After the discussion, it was agreed that members of the Committee should submit proposals for conclusions from the control hearing during the following week in order to schedule the meeting where proposals could be adopted. The Committee will prepare the Report on the control hearing, which will contain the essence of the presentations and proposed conclusions.
